Project Information

Having a large family is great, until it comes to scrolling a gift for them at Christmas, especially with a late start! Lets count, there were 10 puzzles @ 80pieces each, 17 key chains and 8boxes all total. No key chains for non-drivers and the grand kids all got other gifts besides scrolled works! I boxed up a puzzle and key chains for the six children and their families or fiance' in one case. The last puzzle pic is of Shane(brother) Shawn(son) Brandon(son)- Me- Brian(son). We had to go fishing last spring! The photos were all 8"x 10" and glued to 1/4"BB plywood I had to cut each one individually using a 1/8"BB plywood overlay in order to minimize any fracturing of photos. They also had to be wrapped in packing tape and required a 2/0 blade and 5X magnification. I was able to cut the boxes out with a table saw and no magnification! It was all fun--now that it is done!-LOL

Very cool idea and a lot of work! These puzzles will be cherished. Do you just freehand them or do you make cut lines?

Great looking gifts! All very nicely done! You should do a blog on how you do the puzzles. Where do you get the puzzle pattern? Thanks for posting.

God Bless

reddinosaur,
TY. I glue the puzzle to the 1/4"BB plywood. I use Duro-all purpose spray adhesive from Lowes it is less than 50% the cost of 3M brand and works just the same. CharlieM1958, TY Sir. Qmoney, TY Sir. Scrappy,TY. Yep it's big (the family) 4 boys and 2 girls. a1Jim, TY, Sir. stefang, TY. I actually glue a pattern to the 1/8"BB overlay plwood that I then wrap everything with the packing tape. You can get the puzzle patterns here http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/. ND2ELK TY Sir. The link above will get you the puzzle patterns and a program to make the key chains on your 'puter very easily also. huff, TY Sir. I have given the boys a puzzle of some type every year in their stockings. The old metal wire, wooden inter-locking. paper types or even Rubiks cubes. This year I just put their faces and their families on them. Thank You all again for taking the time during this busy time of the year to look and comment. Merry, Merry Christmas to you all!

Sincerely,

Mytoya,
TY Lady, I didn't really do anything to prep the wood except hit it with 150grit paper prior to spraying Duro- spray adhesive right from the can on both the wood and the photo, let them tack a bit and apply the photo. Try this addy for the complete project-http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/-. Thanks again for looking and commenting, here's wishing you and yours a most joyous New Year!

Sincerely,
Ken McGinnis
