Project Information

One of the nurses I work with wanted a computer desk/display cabinet to be built into her dining room. I built this cabinet in my garage in 7 separate sections and slid them into place. I took around 3 months in my garage as a part time project but I believe she is happy. Have to remember next time to account for walls that are not plum and bring a larger hammer for instillation.

You did a wonderful job on this. I also like the hardware configuration. How could the nurse not be pleased?

Looks like a first rate job, nicely done! How did you end up working around the standard non-plumb walls? Shims and edge trim or did you have enough overhang to scribe and plane to fit?

I should first mention that almost everything I've learned about wood working and projects like this came from the other members of this web community. I have been watching and reading all of your posts and blogs and have learned a great deal. With this cabinet the doors only appear to have mullions in them. Each door has only a center peace down the middle and the shelves appear to be mullions. The lighting is halogen bulbs placed at the front of the case and each shelf is shorter than the other by 1/2 to 1 inch. This allows the light to blend down through the inside. When I placed the cabinet in her dining room the edge joints are all hidden with white molding and a crown molding tops off the case. I'm not sure where my pix of the finished install are but will post them in the future.
