Project Information

This was my 2nd project ever! It is made with poplar. I made this at my work. In Fresno, CA I worked for The Skomsvold Group and Mr. Mark Skomsvold. He is the one who inspired me to start woodworking. Back to the box…My friend drew these flames on this box after I constructed it. As soon as I saw the flames, I said to him "I know what I am going to be doing for the next several hours…" and I started routing. I free-hand routed this with my rotozip and a 1/2" core box bit. I then stained the flames first with red dye, then a metal flake paint and finally a generous couple coats of shellac. The lid is attached with blum (110 deg.?) hinges. For getting me into woodworking, I say thank you Mr.Skomsvold. G'day-

I definitely covet that box. You could be starting a new LJ gloat - war of the tool boxes.
