4th (Final) Update on the St. Anthony Hymn Number Board

This week, I've been finishing up the Hymn Number Board for the St. Anthony Catholic church in Strong City, KS. Final assembly, glue, number plate holders, stain, finish, and gold-powder painting, and it is all finished now, ready for delivery to the church on Saturday.

This is my Original Design, and it looks nothing like anything I have seen before, although it has design elements of things I have built in the past. I built it to match the other furnishings of the St. Anthony church that I built earlier this year, especially the Processional Cross.

I really enjoy this type of work. I was a given a functional commission: "Build a Hymn Number Board to match the other work, and make it free standing, on wheels." From there I was given "free reign" and so this was really a creatively fun time for me.

I will be reusing the number plates from the old hymn number board, and will show photos of them in place at a future time, probably in the Project Posting when I get it ready.

Once I get the Hymn Number Board over to the church, I will get some better photos with a cleaner backdrop, and then I can post this as a new Project. I'm using the blog process to show the progress, and the steps I'm going through on projects. It is also a nice way to show the customers how things are progressing, which in the past meant sending huge emails with photos attached. The blog process is much more efficient for all of us.

As far as I know, this concludes the work for this church. I hope some new church work shows up, it has been a lot of fun, and challenging.

Oh, in a side note, for those of you that have followed by blog entries, (http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/decoustudio/blog/1072) I received my new eyeglasses today. I had to go to no-line bifocals, but I can see again. They will take some adjustment to get used to for sure, but it was amazing how things change when I can see! The bifocal was really handy today when I was gold-powder painting the Hymn Number Board, especially the small rings and details.
