Project Information
I made this Bowl from a board with two wide pieces of Queensland Silky Oak and a strip of unknown hard wood in the centre. Glued together with Tite Bond 3.
The Diameter is 7 inches and the depth is 3 1/2 inches. The wall thickness is around 3/8 inch.
I had intended making two Bowls but I ruined the other piece of stock as I had the wrong angle for drilling and cutting the rings. I sliced this board down to 3/4 inch on the Band Saw and drilled and cut the rings at 28 Deg.
The rings were 3/4 inch wide. The result was not too out of alignment and it was possible to hand sand to a finished job. I have a long way to go before I am allowed to wear the Shop Apron with the Pencils and Ruler..Ha Ha Ha…..The Finish was about 6 coats of Danish Oil. The wood just swallowed the oil and it took a long time before the grain popped.
Lots of faults and flaws in this project as I am still struggling with hiding the drill holes and the burn marks from the Scroll Saw Blade.
Kind regards,
Cliff.
