Project Information

I made this box to put our bread to keep it off the counter. Its made of pallet wood. I think the species to the box part is poplar. I recently read a book on shaker furniture so it gave me the idea for the box. My wife wanted it stained so i sealed it with shellac seal coat then stained it so its not as dark but more even in color since poplar is a blotchy wood. then used a cherry water based stain and shellac final coat for three coats. I added some finishing wax to even out the finish. it was an easy project to work on while i wait on getting a part for my jointer.

Nice take on a Shaker classic. When I first saw the photo, I thought it was full size. Nice work.

Nice work Joe. You're a wizard at finding good wood for nothing.

Very nice.

As one of the other comments, they thought it was Fullsize, I to did think it looked fullsize, but i think that is because of the Camera Angle or something.

And I was thinking, Breadbox? But now that you explained it and all and I noticed the Table, It is Smaller then it Appears…

Great work, I like the Stain Job on the Poplar, as it's difficult to get a nice even coat and all!

Congrats,
Handi
