My shop is 10×20 (which in Southern California where land is a premium I am grateful for.) It is an addition on the back of my garage. I took all the old Oak kitchen cabinets we tore out when we first moved in our house. We remolded our kitchen with White Wash Maple cabinets. I decided trying to be green; I would use the old oak cabinets in my new wood shop. Some say over kill, I say free.
I made 25 feet of "L" shape counter tops, sprayed the ceiling rafters and stucco wall sawdust brown paint. I put up that old 70's tan paneling being it matched the paint and cabinets and was clearance @ $6.00 per 4×8 sheet.. My wife understood setting up the shop was important in that, we knew moving in to the house we were gutting the whole thing down to studs and moving walls! Inside remodel is complete in 5 yrs, not bad if you went on tour before and after. (Yes, we do work as well) I ran a 60-amp sub panel to my garage/shop after putting a 200-amp panel on our house. I have 13, 20amp dedicated circuits 8 in the woodshop 5 in the garage, well thought-out, that allows no dimming of the lights when more than one thing is running. Even the city inspector was impressed. They call me over-kill at City Hall, could be worse.
Being in Aircraft Maintenance electrical for 25 yrs I understand the importance of quality tools. Some of tools in the shop are, 2 routers Triton & a Craftsman Professional Plunge router, 3 Porter Cable Nail Guns, Grizzly 14 inch Ultimate Band Saw, Drill Press, Delta Jointer, Dewalt Planner, Rigid Table Saw, Jet Scroll Saw, Craftsman 6×48 Belt and Disc Sander (love this thing), Clayton Spindle Sander, 3 18 Dewalt Cordless Drills (sale one day 99ea @ Home depot bought all of them.), Black-n-Decker Belt Sander, Bosch 6 inch Orbital Sander, Jet Clamps, 1 1/2 HP Penn Industries dust colloctor , Craftsman 10 Chop Saw, Ryobi Electric Hand Planer, Rockler HVLP sprayer, Pocket Jig Pro, Roto-Zip, Sawzall, Dewalt 1/2 in Elect. Drill, shop is plumbed with copper/air off a Craftsman Professional 175 psi air compressor and more …..Stock Room Suppy V drum sander.
Pics on here are small and the shop will be dirty!!! Like they should be, took me month of complaining to my dear wife to quit going in there and cleaning my shop! I want sawdust on the floor! Until I start finishing then I have to clean up, darn dust,,,, I need a spray booth LOL
