Project Information

My first turned goblet. Followed steps from demo training at my local Woodcraft store. Used a cherry blank that I started between centers. Rounded the stock and turned a tenon to fit my scroll chuck. Flipped it around and then hollowed out the cup end. Sanded and finished it before moving to the outside profile. I used a foam pad in the cup for protection from my live center so I could use the tail stock. Worked on the cup outside profile and then progressed down to the stem details and finally to the base. Sanded to 400 grit and applied sanding sealer. Used Yorkshire Grit and Hampshire Sheen High Gloss for the finish. Parted off the base with a slight under cut and then finished the bottom by hand using a sanding pad in a Jacobs chuck on the lathe.
