Project Information
I've borrowed from various periods in designing this table, incorporating basicaly all the shapes my mind is comfortable with. So there is no true point of origin. I think it may tend to reflect some of the intricacies I've noticed in Federalist style furniture, hence the naming of it! Constructed of Brazilian Cherry and White Oak primarily. The capped ball feet are actually birch. There's not a tool in the shop that I didn't use during this build except the pin nailer. The only metal is the figure eight fasteners and screws for the top.Everything else is mortise/tenon and inlayed. I particularly enjoyed getting to use the scrollsaw for the 3/d oak drawer pulls and the caps on the ball feet. The finish is comprised of many coats of tung oil and top coated with a blend of tung oil/MS/Varnish.
