Project Information

I was tired of my fishing poles just laying around my shop or in a corner where they are always in the way or falling down. I had an old pair of canoe oars just sitting around and needed a project for them. So I came up with this fishing rod holder. The wood is just 3/4 in pine and all I did was add 2 coats of semi gloss poly to it. This one holds 14 rods on each side cause I have a bunch of poles and needed more room to hold them. I did learn that I need to add a brace in the middle or to make the whole holder a little smaller because the top holder is a little flimsy. I added wheels so it would be easier to move around. It was a very fun project. I now have a few friends who have saw this and want one similar to it. Thanks for looking.

Dan: That is a great Idea you came up with using those oars for the sides, for the guy that loves fishing and has several poles, they would probaly love to have one of them. I think you did a great job. Thanks.

Really great job, Daniel!!!!!!
Got a video camera yesterday, so we're getting closer.
Again, great job!! I really like it. You could saw out your own oars and this would do great at craft shows.
See Ya!!

Really nice idea so much so I am probably going to copy it for myself. Curious how you attached the top shelf did you cut the handles and sandwich it?

Thank you all. Bob yes I cut the oars and sandwiched them but i also traced the bottom one out and then routed about 1/4 in into the board to give it strength and before I put the bottm part of oar on I screwed the top part down then put the bottom part on and glued it. Does that make sense? I would love to see and hear how yours turn out.
