Today I Learned Three Things

Today I learned:

-It's really hard to blow sawdust out of the way when you're wearing a respirator.

-Yes, Virginia, I can resaw with my tablesaw

-When you buy fancy wood, it's important to remember what it's called, or else all the other Lumberjocks will make fun of you when don't know what it is!

since i dont have that fancy resaw stuff i always make a pathway ( rip ) ,
with the tablesaw , and the rip fence on both edjes of my board .
this i follow with the bandsaw .
if the bandsaw is cutting goffy , i can feel it and adjust my angle freehand .most of the time i dont even use the rip guide .
most of the time i dont have that problem ,
as it is usualy called 2×4 pine ,
or particle board !

Note to self: don't try to blow sawdust with dust mask or respirator on.

So that's why it doesn't work! - I learn something new every day here on LJ!

You need one of those small personal fans for that. You clip them on your shirt color and they help keep your head cool( so they say) Just have to hook it on a pocet and have it blow for you! haha

On the fancy wood: When I get wood from pallets no one there to tell me what it is. I rellie on help from all of you in identifying it. Or I take small pieces to my local store and hope they know.

Spanish Cedar

1) Spanish cedar isn't Spanish.

2) Spanish cedar isn't cedar.

3) I should have listened when my hardwood purveyor told me to wear a dust mask all day because Spanish Cedar TASTES HORRIBLE! It lingers on your lips for days! Yuck!
