Cool. Great job! I just wouldn't want to accidentally hit the metal or screws or knob on the adjustable base. I've actually cut into my Grripper a couple of times. Just wasn't careful enough. It really is a great looking piece though.

great job, a long time ago I viewed your video, and this I have also seen a product in order to making.I downloaded the PDF, I'm from Europe, the Czech Rep., it would not have to download it in the metric system.I watched your videos from markets in the US, you live in the USA, or you drove all the way (the former USSR) look at Fair tools.

Hello, Klusy! Thank you for the compliment! If you need metric you can download the SketchUp file and make the program give you the dimensions in mm.
I also have this video on my Russian youtube woodworking channel if it is easier for you: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFbOyfHZejcEM4YhtS13NDQ
Or my English youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYNOkVS7B5_6A3GgNq7TtrQ
Best!

Great job but Ya know, GRR-Riper is made in the USA by a family owned company and only cost $79. Met the family at the IWF in Atlanta, great people.

If you can make this in 4 hours and don't mind working $15/hour after material purchased, then it's a wash. Otherwise, support this great little company.

I have purchased about four of these for personal use and for friends. If you can support an American made product then buy one here:

Thanks for the detailed plans, Have considered making one but Chris Cook does have a valid point. Especial with the latest move of the government trumping to buy American. We owe it to a family owned business to help them financially as they make a product to make our hobby safer and save fingers. Guess I could be saying, don't give them the finger to save a few bucks. Its not impossible but not cost effective to order from the US if you don't live in the country, shipping rates sky rocket.
A well made project and presentation.

Thank you. Yes, I agree. I just bought two US made Grr-rippers by Microjig to take to Moscow as presents for my friends. I am going there in April to attend there Woodworking Show/Festival as a guest and a speaker.

I hate to be a kill joy, but you realize that the micro jig is patented.
And you just put the drawings for it here, so people can violate the patent.

So it's ok if you want to violate that in your own shop and stay quiet about it… well not really.
But to promote it and show plans is a total violation.
Showing pics of a finished product is a violation too, but a lot better than putting plans out there.

while you are not making a profit from this, you are taking away from micro jig in all the guys that will now make off your plans.

JUST SAYING.

<edit> Oh crap, someone already went on this rant. sorry I saw the beginning and just felt like laying down a little clergy.

I totally agree, and would never set up any production to affect this cool little firm. Moreover, I recently bought 2 their Grippers (one simple and one 3D models) as presents for my friends in Moscow (going there next month for their Woodworking Show/Festival as an invited guest/speaker).
My thing, having chopped a piece of my left index finger in the past, is to give these plans to people who can't buy/afford the real thing for FREE.

Well, this is a good point I haven't thought about to be honest…

As I mentioned to another commentator above, having cut a piece of my finger years ago, I would love to prevent others from doing it.

These plans I mostly intended for people who can't buy/afford the real Grr-ripper (I just bought two of their Grr-rippers to take to Moscow as presents in April, going their as a guest/speaker to their Woodworking Festival/Show, speaking of giving them business:)).

If Microjig, has a problem with my plans I will have no problems to remove them even though these plans are not really their product. I just had so many requests of people to post them under my videos that when one of my subscribers drew them and sent me these files-it seem to me to be the right thing to do, to share the knowledge

Guys, thank you all for your input! I thought twice of it and decided to remove all the Free PDF files so I am not hurting the Microjig in any ways…

That's a classy move and I know it negates some good effort on your part.

I know there are not a lot of products that us woodworkers use that are actually made in our home countries (be it USA, Canada, UK, etc.).

Perhaps we can all help each other know what products are Made 'locally' versus just a China import so we can do our part to support local economies. I know my shop is probably 98% China import. I try to do what I can.

CrazyRussian- Very creative and well done copy. I have a CNC and the ability to make it, but the time and materials don't warrant this. I say this because I have thought about making a knock off and I find the time and costs to make one are not cost effective.
As for hurting Micro Jig- I would bet that the average guy couldn't actually build a comparable copy of their product.
But for those who can, then enjoy your knockoff.

Thanks, man!
My favorite knock off clone is this one (3D printing): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:683535.
And the guy used my idea of the eccentric side wheel as simplified side support (he wrote to me and even linked my video there) .
I will publish the PDF plans of this plexiglass clone soon, as it is my own design and it is hopefully easier/cheaper to render it:
Best!

Thanks, Chris! Yes, it being made here in the US was a strong argument for me! Had the Grr-ripper been made in China, I would have cared less about the comments above!...
