Project Information

This cabinet was the final project for my Into to Woodworking class at Red Rocks Community College. I needed a decent place to keep my banjo, and this is the design that resulted. The primary wood is Sassafras with Walnut accent pieces, and African Mahogany ply in the side panels. The top is a coopered panel, which was tricky, but a lot of fun to build. I hope you all like it.

No humidity control, as the cabinet is not air-tight. It stays pretty dry out here in Colorado, and I haven't noticed any issues. I am considering adding a top-light, but I haven't found the right fixture. Thank you for the comments.

Nice!!

Sure beats sitting in the corner like mine- but I can't play it so I guess it doesn't matter.

All I see is a clock ticking in that beautiful box. That is so cool. Coopered huh? That's something I want to learn, maybe you could do a video for us here on LJs. Amazing work.

That is an absolutely stunning case, I really like this piece. I'm learning to play the banjo, and that is one nice case. Not to mention a nice banjo!
