Project Information

Inspired from a picture I saw in a catalog, I made this sliding Valet for my wife for Christmas. I setup the file on my CNC to carve out the trays, then cut them out, sanded to shape, and routed the bottom. As an extra feature, I decided to engrave the inside of the bottom so that it is only visible when opened.

Made from pine, The pieces are held in place with a small metal pin and some CA glue. The felt was put in the top pieces because that's classy, just like me :p Finished with several coats of spray poly and a too coat of paste wax.

Thanks for looking, comments welcome and questions are replies too!

Great design. I hope newcomers pay attention to using your imagination to build from a picture.

Thanks Monte , Dave and Roger for the nice comments. I forgot to mention, this was just a prototype for a class project, but I really like the way it turned out so I didn't want it going to waste.

I love decorative little boxes, and I would like to make one for my wife, too. The problem is she would never be able to find it. Her dresser and nightstand are such a disaster it would just get burried :p Nice work! Cool design.
