Project Information

I build a lot of candle holders and sell them online on a couple of different sites, and at craft shows in the D/FW area. Often I have small scraps of hardwood lying around the shop and, periodically, I look through the pile and see what new designs I can come up with. Here are the most recent examples.

Right now I'm concentrating on letting the beauty of the wood shine instead of trying to show off my skill with a router and a good set of profile bits. Simple, straight lines, showing off the grain and the occasional knot, finished with tung oil and several coats of polyurethane.

These candle holders are made by edge joining ash, black walnut and red heart, and they measure approximately 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 3/4" high, or 3" high to the tops of the candles.

Great use of scraps!

Might have to make some of these for the wife.

Keep it up.

Jay -

It looks like we have similar interests in projects. I make candle holders out of wine barrel staves. Last weekend I made my first leaning wine bottle holder our of a wine barrel stave. I have not posted it on LJ yet, but I will as soon as the finishing is done.

I just started selling a few pieces. I mostly make them for gifts and I don't have the time to merchandise a lot of stuff.

Anyway, just wanted to say high and tell you I like your work.

Regards,

Todd

Jay, this is a nice idea for using those ever accumulating offcuts that we just can't bear to part with. These are really nice looking candle holders.
