Project Information
I build a lot of candle holders and sell them online on a couple of different sites, and at craft shows in the D/FW area. Often I have small scraps of hardwood lying around the shop and, periodically, I look through the pile and see what new designs I can come up with. Here are the most recent examples.
Right now I'm concentrating on letting the beauty of the wood shine instead of trying to show off my skill with a router and a good set of profile bits. Simple, straight lines, showing off the grain and the occasional knot, finished with tung oil and several coats of polyurethane.
These candle holders are made by edge joining ash, black walnut and red heart, and they measure approximately 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 3/4" high, or 3" high to the tops of the candles.
