Project Information

It's for my granddaughter, her first jewelry box. I had watched The Woodwhisperer make some of these (http://www.thewoodwhisperer.com/videos/scrapwood-jewelry-boxes/) and used the same plan. I made mine taller so I could add a drawer. I didn't use flocking, but used some self-adhesive felt to line the bottom of the top tray and two of the compartments in the drawer. The center section of the drawer has a piece of ring bar in it. The woods are cherry and maple. I had to buy the barrel hinges and drawer pull, but every thing else was left over from other projects.

That is really nice. Very clean lines in your design. I'm going to borrow ideas from you if you don't mind.

Nice contemporary design, are those side panels laminated? There is a warm glow about the entire box, great work Halc!

Thanks for the comments.

BurlyBob - no, of course I don't mind. Post yours when you finish, I'd love to see how you tweaked the design.

splintergroup - yes, the side panels are laminated with 1/4" thick maple sandwiched between two 1/4" thick pieces of cherry. The only finish on it was four coats of Minwax gloss lacquer in a can.
