Project Information
Men's valet box, which allows for phone charging as phone sits in top tray. The wood in this project is Mesquite with Texas Cedar Elm used in the splines and pulls. There are many parts to this box, same design as I've used for the past few years. I was planing on phasing this design out until I started receiving request from customers. The inside is a bandsaw box (Alder), the outside is a normal miter joint box in which I like to refer to as a hybrid box. It offers a coin tray which acts as key (magnets) to opening a door to a hidden compartment and it also comes with a hidden drawer that is held in place by way of a magnet. It measures 13" x 9" x 6" and is finished with a single coat of Tung Oil followed by 3 coats of wipe on poly satin finish and a final rub of paste wax. The hidden compartment on this box is a deep 3" x 7" x 5-3/4" which will easily house a pocket and or compact sized hand gun (pistol). The drawer are flocked with a dark brown felt, I used a custom made oil base paint instead of the normal glue that comes with the flocking to secure it to the wood.
