Project Information

Finally finished my dining table, took just over a month to complete, working on it whenever I had spare time. I simply can't afford the amount of hardwood this would use so it's made out of construction grade fir, and I'm extremely happy with the results.
The top is edge glued, with pinned breadboards on the ends. The legs and aprons are all attached with bridle joints.

I can't for the life of me remember the term for the joint that I used for the bottom stretchers. Incredibly simple joint, the stretchers are just inset into the legs. I'm sure one of you will tell me what it's called.

I stained it all with a steel wool/vinegar mixture to ebonize the wood and I love how it turned out. The finish is water-based polycrylic. I avoided oil-based because I didn't want the yellowing that comes with it. The polycrylic seems very hard and durable, time will tell how it holds up.
