Project Information

This is my first project in my new shop. The fourth large cabintet I have done on my own. The box is an "A" skin 3/4" plywood with a clear pine face frame and drawer fronts. The first and second pictures are the final product with three coats of poly. The last three are prior to stain and finish. I need ideas on how to dress this type of project up in the future. Comments, constructive and critical are welcome.

Nice job. As for dressing up, I encourage my students to use formica laminant on the tops, especially when it will have something large and heavy on it such as a TV that will scratch a solid or ply surface. Another option is some bed molding under the top overhang or some simple cover or quarter round. Add some base trim, just simply a 1×3 turned on edge, mitered at the corners and an ogee profile on the top. You could even cut an arch in the base to give it a lighter open look

That is the simple dress up. Depending on your ability level, Inlay a rectangle in each drawer front with a contrasting wood. Make drawer fronts a raised panel. Make a rasied panel door with pull out trays. Let me know if you want more ideas

Drawer handles sometimes does the trick. But I'm partial to modern, sleak, straight edges and lines.
