Project Information

My son was in Cub Scouts, and was getting the Arrow of Light Award.
I wanted to get him an arrow, but needed some way to display it, so I came up with this.
I needed to make 4 of them for the boys in the Den
3 of them consisted of Yellowheart inlayed into African Mahogany with a Purpleheart border.
I had to make my son's one of a kind, so I used Bloodwood instead.
This was the first time I did any kind of inlay

As a member of the Order of the Arrow, and Eagle Scout… as well as my son's Den Leader and future Cubmaster, I can truly appreciate these works of craftsmanship! Well done!

Great job on these. I had made several of these some years ago. Of course mine were a little different. But not quite as good as yours. Thank you for posting. It brought back some great memories.

Between being a scout and an adult scouter I have invested more than half of my 57 years in Scouting. You have done a good thing. You have taken an award, which means a lot by itself, and made it special for four boys. Keep up the good work. You will be surprised when, after many years, someone you don't recognize comes up to you and starts talking about that camping trip back in XXXX. This presentation is a good marriage of woodworking and scouting, two things of value to be passed on.
