Project Information
So one of the few things I have of my grandfather's was this chisel. It had a chipped resin handle but worked great until the handle completely shattered when it fell off my bench (while the bench was being made). So today, after flubbing an attempt yesterday, I made a handle for it.
I had an extra piece of hardwood around from making handles for my vise. I cut this to an octagon on the bandsaw and then hand planed off the corners.
I cut off a piece of brass from an old sprinkler and removed the debri.
I recently was given a Mark V ShopSmith and I used the lathe for the first time to make a round.
ShopSmith drill press for the hole and then tapped it home.
