I have a few very old tools, This one was not in the view of my workshop photo's. I'm somewhat proud
that I acquired it at a garage sale for about $25 ten years ago and it is still working. I made the stand,
that has a chip collection basket in the center door.
I did purchase it without any motor. I'm guessing that it was made in the early 1960's. The nameplate
does say Sears Roebuck and Co. Simpson-Sears LTD.
Gary, Nice vintage jointer and I also like the custom stand. What model # jointer is that? I also have a "few" vintage machines in my shop and I prefer using them over something that is new. Always lookting to increase my heard of tools.
I love older tools as well, They Just Don't Build Them Like They Used To. My planer is a Craftsman branded Foley-Belsaw model 910 that I found on Craigslist. It is ROCK solid. As an example of this, I made the mistake of trying to move it to the basement by myself. A few steps down my grip slipped and it went tumbling end over end. The only thing that was damaged was one of the 1/4" brackets for the flip-up cover!
My grandfather has this exact item he bought new in 1957. I was wondering where one might get a new knife for one. I see garycn listed a website. But i didn't know if there was a part number or something.
