Project Information

I don't paint many projects but once in a while they just shout out for attention. I solicited the artistic abilities of Michelle Anderson to add the touches to make the wagon special. The handmade wheels are wrapped in copper foil. The little block head man and the 2 Labrador's are my carvings. The chocolate one is like ours that always has a ball in it's mouth. Steering and the brake system follow my others and are like most early wagon makers, unique to the use the wagon was made for. [I never make any 2 the same.]

That is a wonderful piece.
The detail in the carving and paint job are both outstanding.

HLT, thanks for the link, I had seen it once a bit ago. All I make are 10 & 12 spoke wheels for my wagons, except for the Fuel wagon http://lumberjocks.com/projects/97378 and those were real hard to make. I am working on a new design for my next wagon and hope to present a blog about it soon. Here's a peek

Hunter those are going to be great.
Looks like the yellow part will be interesting.
I see that wide rim and think of a double hub and spokes.
Seems like I've seen some tractors made like that.
Just trying to double you work and make it more complicated. LOL

What are the spokes made of?
Is purchased stock or something you make yourself?

In this wheel I used 3/32 dowels. I sometimes use square stock. I make square and sand them down for the taper by hand.

Very interesting and I enjoyed seeing this project. The wheels are very realistic, well done. I need to take lessons of how you made them. Very creative and presented project.
