Project Information

Got to Korea and asked my boss if he had anybody he wanted to give a real nice gift to and this is what I made. He's an F-16 pilot and the Mig's are used by north korea so I made a Mig-17 out of sycamore. The F-16 is from Leopardwood and wow it was very dense. First time I ever experimented with veneer, but I chose some Figured Makore from (www.veneersupplies.com/). I had no vacuum press so i cut the veneer to shape, used some 5 minute cement wood glue and put all the clamps I had on it. Worked out perfect, except my corners didn't line up, so I used a bit of walnut on the 4 corners.

Oh yea I used bamboo BBQ skewers for the Mig wingtips, and bought a chrome coat hanger and cut it in half for the aircraft stands. Thanks for looking!

Very cool!

For scale, would that happen to be a bit of 20mm cannon underneath?
