Project Information

This is a recipe box I was asked to make by a fire chief. Their firefighters association is giving it to a family whose house burned down recently, but still made a sizable donation to their fundraiser. It is walnut and spalted hackberry from an LJ known for his hackberry. The drawers are 8" deep to hold quite a lot of 3×5 cards. Thanks for looking.

That is a great looking recipe box. The spalted hackberry and walnut look great together and the craftsmanship is super. This will be passed down for generations.

Beautiful box, Bill! I'd use it for something besides recipes. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Drew, Don, Eric and Candy. I just found out the box is going to a woman who I ran a call on years ago where she was badly injured. Has a little more meaning for me now.

Beautiful recipe box! That walnut/hackberry combo really goes well together, and it's nice knowing it's going to a worthy cause!

And congratulations on the DT3!

Great job for a sad cause. Love the way you matched the grain all around. I've sold almost all of the spalted hackberry slabs (and didn't even keep any for myself),
