Calling all Indianapolis are Lumberjocks!

Over the last few weeks I've had the pleasure of meeting lots of great LJ's. First I got to meet the infamous Karson and a few others at the Baltimore woodworking show (you can read about it here). The next weekend I trekked to Springfield, MA for the WoodWorks event where I got to meet even more Lumberjocks (I'll try to get some pics and a blog entry together in the next day or two). And this past weekend I travelled to Columbus, OH for the woodworking show where I met even more LJ's. It's been great getting to meet so many Lumberjocks from all over so, I thought I let the Indy LJ's know that I'm headed your way in just about 10 days for the woodworking show on January 30, 31 and February 1st. If you get a chance, stop by the booth and say hello (I'll be the guy doing the hand cut dovetail demo). I may even convince you to jump in and try cutting a set of dovetails yourself or worse yet, I might ask someone to take our picture :) If you're coming to Indy, let me know so I can try to keep an eye open for you. I look forward to meeting LOTS of Lumberjocks in Indianapolis!

Are you a member of "the Society of American Period Furniture Makers" - SAPFM? I was just at the SAPFM Annual meeting in Colonial Williiamsburg and saw a highboy from Philly that had the same exact crown as your Philly Spice box. Awesome job on the spice boxes by the way! I have taken several period furniture making classes from Steve Latta at the Marc Adams School which is just SE of Indy in Franklin, In. Have you been there?

Todd,
No pinning of dovetails going on in my demos but I do cut both pins and tails :) So, in answer to your question, it's more like the "Un-pinned Dovetail World Tour". My next show date is the end of February (the 27th through March 1st specifically) at The WoodWorking Show in Somerset, NJ. Come on out and we can have a pinned/unpinned dovetailing demo!

ww,

I am a member of SAPFM but I did not make the annual meeting. I have not been to Marc Adams but I've known Steve for a couple of decades, at least. He's a great craftsman and you're lucky to have had the opportunity to take a class with him. Thanks for the compliments on my work.

The show in Indy was great! I'll post a bit about it and all the other goings on on my blog in the near future. LOTS of things have been going on here and I need to get back to blogging. I was surprised to see that even with the multitude of woodworkers at the Indy show, no one identified themselves as a LJ. There just HAS to be some Lumberjocks in the Indy area. If you missed me this year, I'll see you next. And if you did speak to me in Indy, send me a message and let me know. I have really enjoyed meeting so many Lumberjocks in the last month.

Chuck: I probably won't make it to Somerset NJ. That show was my old stomping ground until I moved to Delaware. But I'll try to send some buddies your way.
