I segmented 28 separate pieces of Dark Walnut and Eastern Red Cedar to form this Sea Shell. The base has both species of wood in the pegs as well as the platform is Walnut.
Nice job enhancing the visual spiraling with alternating wood species. Was it difficult doing the sanding with the alternating hard walnut and soft cedar? Any special tips on sanding the concave inside?

XquietflyX: If I remember correctly on this particular shell, the angle was at 18.
SawTooth1953: And for the sanding part, I made sure each wedge was thick enough so i didn't have to worry about sanding too much, so not to sand thru and thru once final glue up was done, if you know what i mean. Best way I've found was to use the Guinevere Sanding bubbles with my Fordam carving tool. Can be used with a dremel tool too, if you don't have a fordam.
