Thanks. It's between 8 and 9 inches I think. My lathe has a 10" swing, so I tried to go as big as I could.

Nice looking set. Glad you saved it from disaster. Everyone who turns gets a disaster occasionally. Sometimes it is just from unexpected problems with the wood. Sometimes because we are stretching our limits. If you are not already aware of it, extra thick "super" glue works miracles in stopping cracks and repairing flaws. It even fills small voids. Many of us save more firewood from being burned than the other way around because wood piles is where I get a lot of my pieces. You might try Behlen's salad bowl finish. It builds a finish much faster than Generals but has a bad habit of skimming over in the can so keep the air out whenever possible. Don't forget to sign and date your work. I use a vibrating carbide tipped marking tool to "write" into the wood.
