Project Information

This is a giant adirondack chair that i made for my mother. She is a clown and I thought to myself, Clowns like everything over sized. Why not? After it was done I had to get it to her house. I loaded it up, with the neighbors help of course. Barely fit in the bed of my truck. I had made sure not to make it any bigger than the bed. Then I had to travel about 40 miles to its final destination. You should have seen the looks i got on the freeway! Although its very impractical, cumbersome to move, and an eyesore to the neighbors…..i dont give a crap! This thing is awesome and everyone enjoys it. Thanks guys!

I'm sorry ohwoodeye. I kind of just winged it. I didn't really take notes or write down my dimensions.

The reminds me of a short from the Russian children's comedy show "Eralash" ( Ералаш .)

We have the old rule "Measure twice, cut once."
The Russians say "Measure seven times, cut once."

Click on Measure… to see the video! ^

You don't have to understand Russian. The comedy is visual.

Great job "And that's the truth! Pffftt!"

You are probably too young but your Mom is probably the right age to remember that line from Laugh-In where Lily Tomlin dressed as a little girl and sat in a huge chair to deliver jokes.. always ending the gag with that catch phrase.

I'm sure some of the neighbors have tacky concrete gnomes or geese or such - if they complain just say "This is ART and that's the truth!"

Thanks for sharing.

Great build. It serves a purpose and it's not an eyesore. Besides, if they live next to a clown, you have to expect a few unusual things.

This took me back a few (well, quite a few) years to my childhood when Fritz Furniture had a huge chair outside with their store sign. But, if I recall correctly, theirs was a rocking chair (as was Lily's). I think she stole their idea since I'm pretty sure they had their rocker long before Laugh-In.

You could call yours Fitz Furniture!

Thanks for the memories!

Very, very cool. Next you should invite Lilly Tomlin over so you can get her picture in your chair. I visited a place near Iowa City that had a huge rocking chair like this. There was a picture of her visit displayed.
