Project Information

Dec. 15, 2008

On Saturday I held a Sunrise Gathering (in our new tipi in the backyard-thank you Rick!)

I gave out these shields to those attending. The shields represent the balance of night/day as well as inspire us to live with a balanced male/feminine energy.

I had found a suitable stamp at a craft store, took a picture of it and enlarged it on the computer; printed it off and used it as a pattern for the shields. I cut them out with the bandsaw and then I used a Dremel bit to carve out the lines and just a Sharpie marker to colour the lines.

You know that is a good idea, the blowing up of stamps etc, and making them bigger. I bet that would work for a lot of scroll and intarsia patterns. I have always loved the night day sign. I have earrings of it and a big metal one out in front of the house. What a neat idea

I'm now using the image as my business logo. I'd love to make it large enough to hang by the road.

Great idea Deb, I like the whole concept behind it. You are so lucky to have a family that gathers like yours does. A gentle reminder of the times gone in our family.

Brrrrrrrrrr Debbie. It looks cold up there. Look out the big bad wolf might come & blow your house down. Maybe we could use your teepee down under to keep the sun out. LOL
Great job on the teepee.

Very nice MsD. I love it.
To enlarge smaller patterns I use one those light projectors on a big piece of cardboard to trace the pattern. It works really well to get the size.
