Project Information

Just finished my first Kinetic sculpture. Fun project and already spoken for by one of my sons. The sculpture was designed by Clayton Boyer. He sells the design plans @ http://www.lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/Claytonsite1.htm if you have an interest in this type of work.
I am currently building another of his designs - will post when finished. There are several people on the internet that design, build and sell Kinetic sculptures as well as wooden gear clock plans.
I painted this unit to match the décor of my guest bedroom…my next unit will be stained & have a lacquer finish to better match another room.
I have uploaded a video to YouTube if you would like to see the sculpture run…. available at

Plenty cool and a great job. I have been looking at his clock plans for some time now. Fact I just at his site two days ago. Really want to get brave enough to try one.

I could watch that for a long time. Well done, Howard. What kind of wood did you use for this? Thanks for sharing.

I a little late to the party, but I really like your beautiful kinetic sculpture, which you made so very well. I have been thinking about making a wooden gear clock for some time now and I like this one so much that I may order a plan if I can find something I like as much as much as this one.

Howard,
Great work, love this design!
How long does this run before rewinding?

Sierras… This sculpture runs for less than an hour on a wind. Changing the gear size would allow it to run much longer.
