Project Information

A quick project I've been thinking about for a while and decided to take some time to knock it out last weekend. 8×8 oak beam from a barn with hairpin legs, used to be one of the main structural supports - 80+ years old. There were some bits of bark still left which I shaved off with a draw knife. Then sanded with a belt sander and followed with a ROS. Seal coat of wipe-on poly. Routed some recesses in the bottom of the beam for the bases on the legs.

That thing is a beast - and its beautiful. I like that you kept it very simple. The wood speaks for itself.

Thanks for the comments. For those that asked about the weight I really have no idea. If needed I can move it by myself but a using a helper is much better.

Really good bench.
Not many will carry that off to their backyard ?
Like the finish, you left saw marks and poly'd over them.
