Project Information

My wife came home from stained glass class and said she needed a base for a lamp she made. She knows she does not have to ask twice for me to do a wood project. Actually she wanted 2 of them for another one in the making , too.
She wanted just flat triangles but that was too boring. So I glued a spigot on each triangle and spun it for while and then cut off the spigot.
These are out of mahogany stained with chestnut stain to darken them a bit.. They are finished with clear lacquer.

Cheers, Jim

Yea, I see how you dug out the center a bit and added the ring. Nice going, never settle for less. always room for improving. I see the sun/moon on the lamp. Ask your wife what it represents.

Jim - Nice lamps. You did a good job of hiding the source of light. How are they lit?

Thank you all for the nice comments.
I told Carol you all liked her work too. Wait until you see the next one on the lamp base I finished.!! She has not started on the shade yet but it will have dragon flies on it and be a huge round one.

Hi Dave. I did not show the three I first made. They were 3/4" thick triangles which added nothing to the lamp. These spend a little time on the lathe. She said it represents the sun and moon!

Hi Bambi. I may sleep after midnight. I have two cups to turn yet tonight.

Hi Alex. This lamp has a cross brace and a regular light socket mounted on it and this one has a CFL bulb in it.

Hi Joe. That is what I thought. The lamp is everything in that picture!!

Hi John. The elves are on overtime!!

Hi Bob. I try to support here and I love to have a reason to get on the lathe!! She wanted another project tonight that I will turn later.

Cheers, jim

Thanks Candy. Mike and Ivan.

Hi Candy, you will see the lampshade for sure. I have the lamp base done except for the wiring. I have another lamp base done that I plan to turn the shade for. Don't know if I can do it but I'll try anything once.

Cheers, Jim

Now, this is really different, Jim. I love it. You and your wife could have a lot of fun making something like that as a regular product. Congratulations to the both of you.
