Project Information

When I was browsing around the used tool section of my plywood supplier I saw some old hand planes. I figured I would snag one up and give a restoration a try. I really like how it turned out and I took the polishing to a bit of an extreme but hey, I think it looks nice. I re-made the handle and knob from cherry. The brass parts polished up really nice. I have a lot more before and after pictures on my site if anyone has interest. https://nickferry.com/2015/04/how-to-restore-a-hand-plane-ep49/ - thanks for checking it out!

That thing looks like it just came off the factory line, Nick! Good techniques in that nice video. Did you actually use sand to prep for painting, or was that a soda blaster?

thank you! - I used crushed glass - I mention a bit more about the sandblaster and media in the follow up for it here - I wasn't too happy with the sandblaster I used but I suppose it got the job done

thanks - oddly enough for a small project it has a decent amount of time to do it - but the outcome was worth it
