Project Information
This is a project I recently finished.
Each module is 24" in width and 12" deep, they range from 26" up to 58" and were built to go in next to stairs.
With the exeption of the back and the lowest shelf all the materials are 3/4" (back and lower shelves @1/2") and the shelves are dadoed in .25".
The wood is Maple from a mill that is located kind of close to me. Most of the materials were 4/4 and were easily dealt with but I did have to cut into a few 8/4 and rip them down. Trying to mill down a 12" wide 8/4 board into a couple of 4/4 is not too much fun especially on the longer boards.(time to get the next size bandsaw )
I assembles the middle shelf on the bench and squared it up, then built the others and clamped them to the first unit to keep everything in check. After a dry fit of the larger one(laying down on the bench) I glued it up on its side then went to lift it into position next to the middle unit and proceeded to find my flouresent light was in the way…some mad scrambling /lots of cussing/ and I was finally able to shift things around and get it all clamped up before the glue dried….
Finished in 5 coats wipe on poly
All in all they came out nice for the work involved.
