Project Information

Hello, I just finished a new cabinet. After one month of hard worki,... it is done!! The cabinet is made of Walnut as main wood and quarter sawn maple and beech for the drawer sides and backs. The drawer bottoms are made of quarter sawn cedar as well as the carcass back. The side drawer is made of apple and quarter sawn oak and the small front drawer is made of ebony and maple. The details and knobs are made of holly, ebony, granadillo and redwood. I finshed it with two coats of linseed oil and shellac (french finished). The table leg are made also with quarter sawn walnut. Like always I made it using only handtools. I think it has features of both masters, James Krenov and Garrett Hack, and I think is a very nice mixture, what do you think?. In this project I used moulding planes for the first time (some old ones that I´ve got on ebay) and I think it is a good looking feature. I hope you like it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Very nice, I can see the Hack influence especially the Dove Tails, not so much the Krenov, well maybe the stand?

Yes you are right, it has more from Hack than from Krenov and of course the stand and the knobs and also I think the proportions between the stand and the chest but in this pictures you can not see it very well. Thanks a lot for your comment.

great cabinet. I was fortunate to attend a design seminar given by Garret Hack. I can definitely see his influence on your cabinet.

Beautiful work Isra. Your dovetails are exquisite. All with hand tools makes the piece even more amazing. Keep up the fine craftsmanship. Well done.
