Thanks for the kind words. I've got another variation in mind, hopefully it will develop in a few weeks, if I can get the shop time in…

If my wife sees this or the last trunk I'm in a world of hurt. She just gave up on her blanket chest recently. If she thinks something can be built for the horses then I won't get any rest till it's DONE. Just kidding, the tack box's look great and should hold up for many years. BTKS

Do you happen to have more pictures, including any of the construction? Thanks!

hey, I was just wondering how you did the corners of the trunk itself, not just the lid. I'm starting a similar project soon. btw, yours is absolutely beautiful, I hope mine turns out half as good.

Hey sguittar,

I did a Tack Trunk similar to this one. I rabbeted the corners and then also pinned them with dowels.

My project is here:

Feel free to ask any questions. It was a fun build for sure!

I love it andrew! and the hardware you used looks great with it. Im planning on making splined mitere corners (with dowels or biscuits) and using dowels/lap joints for the crosspieces. Ive got a model made in Autodesk inventor if youre curious. Im planning on using 4/4 walnut or mahogany for the frame and maple ply, or maple raised panels if I end up getting a new bit (and probably a router that can handle it). I'll post some drawings with dimensions when i get around to it, its hard to describe what i mean without pictures along with it.
