Project Information

Made from red oak and walnut
Finished in Dutch Oil

Other than the initial figuring of angles the hard part was the circle.

The largest hole saw or Forster bit I had was 2-1/8" but I needed the circle to be 3". So…I drilled the hole at 2-1/8" and then turned the circle insert. As the walnut pieces are about 1/8" proud I turned the circle to fit the 2-1/8" hole but with a lip making it overhang by the necessary amount. Made for a better looking fit as well.

Looks fantastic, DY. Now, if it could just have the Army emblem on it …. grin.

Love the wood combination. The red oak makes the walnut really stand out.
