Very nice! Where do you buy your pen parts? I'm borrowing my brother in law's mini lathe to try turning for a while and would like to make a pen or two. Any suggestions as to where to start?
thanks!

Thanks all for the nice comments.

jdwood, I get most of my parts from Craft Supplies… http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/

They're super nice, I find the quality of the kits to be better there, more rollerball and fountain pen options, and their blanks can be turned right away for the most part. I've been singing their praises for a while now, they have the best customer service I've gotten from any online purchase.

Careful though… it's addictive!

Ryno,

Those are great looking pens. Are you selling them mostly through word of mouth? What type of person typically buys a custom turned hardwood pen (woodworker, business person, someone who just likes the look, etc).

Steve,

Most of the sales I've made so far have been friends/family looking for gifts that are unique. These two are for my boss at work, he's going to visit family in Poland and wanted something that was different, something they couldn't just go out and buy for themselves.

I did sell one pen to an avowed "Pen Person"... see the original post for this project, and I have 6 pens ordered that are for a business associate that collects pens, but the rest are for friends/family/business associates who want gifts.

Great job….I love turning a quick pen or so…it is wonderful instant gratification….they make great gifts and I always end up selling a few to friends/family of folks I give them too.

Sorry I missed this when it was first posted.
