Project Information

Haven't posted anything in a while. Just completed this jewelry cabinet for my my granddaughter's first christmas. It's primary wood is black walnut. Dovetail case and drawers. Initial's inlay is curly maple. Front rose is my fist successful attempt at marquetry. There is one mistake, I shaded the wrong end of a leaf under the rose. Oh Well. It was fun to build and I hope it is something that she will use when she gets older and thinks of her pop pop. The pressure is on though, I have to complete another box for the grandson's first christmas.

Very nice Steve. No apologies necessary on the marquetry, it looks very good to me and the shading is excellent, especially for a first try. Roses are a great venue for sand shading as the leap into three dimensions so perfectly. Yours is lovely, as is the rest of the piece.

Thanks

Very nice looking and well built box Steve. Nice looking marquetry too. And you don't have to admit to a mistake that no one will notice.

Very nicely done, great looking rose. I can't see any mistakes, only a gift from your heart and hands. Good luck with second box.

I had to look this over for a while. It really looks good and the kind of thing I would like to make for my two Granddaughters. You did an excellent job.
