Project Information

A bench I made quickly this weekend. I had a really nice Spalted Maple slab that I thought would look great as an entry table or bench - I chose the bench because it was what I needed!

The legs are 2" wide pieces I had and are joined with dowels and a walnut support from front to back. The stretcher is a cherry board that I 1/2 lapped with the walnut support. The legs are then mortised and tenoned into the top and glued in place. I like the angle of the legs and the top turned out nicely. I'm trying out the Tried and true original varnish. I have 2 coats and I'm planning on giving it a final sand with 1200 grit sandpaper. I tried it out on a smaller piece and it gives a really soft and sexy (yes,
I meant that!!) feel.
