Project Information

Here are the mini pallet coasters I made. I made about 12 of them. I resawed some 1/16" strips on my bandsaw to give the tops a rough cut look. I cut some strips 1/4 wide for the runners as well. I glued them together by stacking weights on top of them. They're 3 1/2" by 4" wide.

The last picture I took them to work and lifted a couple with our fork-lift just to get a cool picture of how small they are.

That's just awesome! Before I read your post I looked at the first pic and I didn't see the router table in the back and was thinking "Jeez…. how many coasters does this guy need if he's building them from stacks of palllets!" - only when I saw the router did I realize they were mini-pallets :) What a neat idea.

Thanks for the nice comments.

I didn't use old pallets to make these. I had to one to tear apart but it splintered to pieces when trying to pull the nails out, so I used some old lumber a friend gave me when he was tearing down some shelves in his garage.

Nicely done! I'm planning on making these for Xmas gifts and I was wondering - what did you use for a finish?
