Project Information

This is a herring bone walnut floor, with 15 leaves cut from fall colored woods inlaid into the floor. leave styles include oak, catalpa, maple, cherry, walnut, ginko. These are the type of trees that surround my clients house. The fall colored woods I used were osage orange, paduak, zebrawood, cherry.

The second pic is of two rooms and the transition between them, made from walnut, maple and cherry. The room divider has 13 large circle inlays and 28 smaller circle inlays, representing the 13 moon cycles per year and 28 days per moon cycle.

Was that for your place or for a customer?! What was the total man-hours for that beauty?

That was for a customer, I can't afford my own work! lol I was the only person that did it, so the total man hours were 10 hrs a day for 4 months, that includes milling everything from scratch from locally sourced walnut in the shop to replacing all the joists, making all the patterns, jacking up one side of the floor to replace rotted sill plates, to laying the floor, inlaying everything, sanding and finishing. And I hate doing floor work because i'm 6'6" to boot lol
