Project Information

The middle grand daughter called as asked if I could make her and extension to her make up table to hold her blow dryer, curling iron and one other long thing with a cord on it. I said sure and went there to take dimensions. Granddaughter #3 was there and said Grandpa, I don't have a make up table, will you make me one and put the holes right in the top for the blow dryer etc?? I can't say no to those girls!!

Anyway here are the two pieces. they are pine and painted with white enamel. The table is 11 1/4" x43" long with a shelf under neath and a power cord hole all the way through on the left end. I just mounted them a few minutes ago into the studs.

The extension is screwed to the existing table and to the wall.

Cheers, Jim

I hope my grandaughter's do not see this Jim. I would have to try and sneak my Unisaw onto an Air France plane bound to Paris, then onto the train…It might not fit into the trunk of my rented Focus ;>}

Great job Jim, like the others have said, it's easy to see who is a soft touch.
But then isn't it wonderful to be loved and appreciated.
You are a lucky man.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for the nice comments. The little one just got home and called to thank me. She was so excited that I did it so fast for her. They are worth ever minute of the work!!

Hi John, a skill saw and a hand jigsaw and drill will do the trick!!They'll fit in a carry on!

Cheers, Jim

These could catch on quickly Jim. The different size holes will hold some odd shaped things. Love those grandchildren.
Nice work.

Great project!
I'll admit being dense this early in the morning: what's the little block on the right front, under the front holes?

Thanks Everyone!!

Hi Hoss. You are not dense- just very observant!! I did not think anyone would notice those little blocks I added. They are for one of their hair tools that would fall straight through if I did not put in a stopper. They each have one and they have no handle to stop them once they drop them in the holes so I came up with this little addition!! It had to stay within the contour of the side panel so it did not show from the side, I thought!!.

Hi Buster.. let's see that cracker….!

Cheers, Jim
