Project Information

Finally got the chest done to put on top of my cart that I made last year. When I got the cart done I realized that I didn't have enough room, so I got started on a top chest. It has full extension drawer slides rated at 100 lbs. so I think that should be enough. Still have to make the matching pulls, but that will come when time allows. Hope you find this post of interest. Thanks for looking, and as always comments are welcome.

I really like it. Nothing like having quality storage space for keeping your tools sorted.

So what type of wood did you use? It kinda looks like oak but I am not sure.

Thanks for sharing some pictures with us.

Beautiful piece of work. Did you design it yourself?

Very nice! I was thinking I was going to buy a mechanics chest for my shop for storage and this just made me think, "why would I do that, when I could make something like this?" Very nice work!

Timbertailor, the drawer fronts are clear pine, top is oak and the sides are oak plywood.

BennyG, I was wanting a mechanics chest also, but dedeided this was more woodworker tool friendly.

Thanks for all the nice thoughts

drnic, I used 1/4" cabinet grade pine plywood, it seems to do the best for me, even with dresser drawers.
