Project Information

These are a couple of cutting boards that I made for my Mom and LOML. LOML designed the trivet. All 3 are Maple and Walnut.

Cut, Clamped and glued, Hand planed, power sanded, and finished with Watco Butcher Block finish.

Mom and LOML both refuse to use them, they say that they are to pretty to mess up using them.

I really like the grain pattern of the maple (quilted?).

Enjoy

Happens all the time to me about ppl not wanting to use them , so I 've got into the habit of putting the prettiest sides of the boards facing up and then routing a juice groove into the other side so ppl can actually cut on that side and save the pretty side for display. Nice job on your boards : )

They look awesome! I made end-grain boards for my Brother In-Law, and Mother In-Law. Both of them say they are too beautiful to mess up by cutting on them too, but I think I proved my point. I grabbed my Mother In-Law's biggest, baddest cleaver, and whack the crap out of it 7 or 8 times, and hardly a scratch. Some mineral oil, and viola! Good as new. :)
