Project Information

Made this business card case out of air dried black walnut that I bought last year from a guy with a bandsaw mill. Resawed a 1/8" veneer using stacked featherboards and my tablesaw. No bandsaw yet. Used sacrificial carrier boards to cut small components and sanded using my belt sander bench jig. Finished with 'natural' colored danish oil.

I like that! Did you glue wood to the sacrificial substrate to make thos small cuts?

Thanks for the compliments! Yes Matt I used 1/4" scrap plywood to make cuts on those tiny pieces. Partly to save my fingers and partly because the wind from the saw pulls the cutoff into the saw where it explodes violently under the guard (not that I experienced that or anything…). I used hot glue and just popped it right off after. I think two sided tape would be less messy.
