Project Information
This is a little redundant because this is featured in my workshop post, but I wanted to get it out there as a project to allow others to find it and give some design ideas because I relied so much on the projects posted of miter stations for this design. Many were from lumberjacks and I thank you guys. I had been planning it for 18 months and have spent many hours on sketchup getting it right before making the first cut. It is the centerpiece of my shop. The wood is all milled from a major purchase of rough sawn Missouri walnut I found on Craig's list about 5 years ago for $150. I had to rent a Uhaul to get it all home. As you can see there is some beautiful burled walnut that I used for the pulls and even some spalted walnut that I incorporated on the face frame ( far left vertical face frame). I took my time on this project. The double dovetail drawers were done on the Incra router table. Real pain in the ass, but worth it in the end. The table top is a laminate for durability. I popped the Birdseye with dyed shellac and finished it all with gloss general finishes high performance then rubbed it all with waxed 0000 steel wool. Cabinets all have pull out drawers. So much storage that most of the drawers are still empty. The open design to the left is inspired from the Ron Paulk design to keep the clutter off the surface. Middle cabinet is set forward 5 inches from the wall to allow dust not captured by the dust collector to fall to the floor and be vacuumed up easily. Fences can be moved in all directions on the T Tracks and slide out as well.
