Project Information

This pattern was inspired by the Zentangle method of free hand drawing. One line at a time, no drawing instruments. I like the free form nature of this pattern and feel it helps me expand my creativity into a new area of chip carving. You'll surely see more tangle patterns!
Carved in basswood
Shown with Quick & Easy Finish (sealer and lacquer) and gel stained after Quick & Easy Finish.
Thanks for looking. Comments, ideas, critiques are always welcome.

I hope the owner of this beauty has enough sense to use it as a serving board and not a cutting board. It is too nice to be carved up cutting hot dogs.

Fantastic job. Thanks for sharing.
I hope nobody will cut anything on it. I'd put it on the wall. :)

Nice, clean cuts, and beautiful results, something that would take me weeks, if not months, to do.
You did some very nice and detailed work! Thanks for the show.

Jimmyhopps,
do you fill it in with epoxy?
No I didn't fill the carved recesses. This cutting board is for display only. To make it usable it should be carved from a harder wood. Then it could be finished with a food-friendly oil or shellac. Cutting should be done on the back, uncarved surface :).
