Very simple desktop candy machine s that I made for my wife's co workers. ..they're teachers. The work great and by varrying the size of the hole in the pull they can give out a small handful of candy…or only one or two pieces. Great for instant rewards in 1st grade. The teachers loved them. They were fun to make too…got the plan from an old man at a crafts festival. Not for free though…he made me buy one!

Great job, I really like those. My wife used to be a school teacher and counselor and she would have loved to have one of those. Now I have a daughter who teaches, so I may have to see if I can find out how to make those. :)

Thanks…I'll take a couple pics of the working parts next time. Ive also upgraded the pull to a push button on my newer ones by using a spring…the kids love it.

Nice piece! Steve Good has a pattern free for one with a wheel instead of a pull on his website. I have made several. You don't have to have a scrollsaw to make it. http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/ and search in the free pattern catalog

I have always wanted to make a candy dispenser, and this looks really stylish, but I am afraid that I would keep emptying it… Thanks for sharing!

I often think about making one of these but I always worry about the bugs. Do they have any kind of ant proofing built in?

Ants? I have never had an indoor ant problem. I wouldn't worry about it if you keep it in a sanitary environment…like a kitchen or even a classroom. Also if you keep hard candies…like skittles and stuff …and keep it out of direct sunlight. ...you shouldn't have to worry about pests.

I live in Thailand, it's impossible to keep ants out of the house no matter how clean it is :) I could add an ant proof base I suppose like I have on the pet food trays.

Wow. Thailand. Didn't see that coming. I'll bet you've got a whole bunch of issues that I would never have thought of !

If you use the wrong kind of wood in an outdoor project you will just find a pile of screws the next morning where your chair used to be :)

Wiser…tomorrow I'll take it apart and post some pictures of it from various angles. Im sure that you can figure it out when you see how simple it really is.
